Iofur; Polar Praetor

Frontline, Melee

A light-hearted traveller of unprecedented fighting prowess, Iofur toys with his opponents before tearing them to pieces.

For bombastic players who enjoy spontaneity and an easy game.

Innate: Hibernate

After a 1.0 second delay, freezes the target area in a block of ice, freezing and granting invulnerability to units trapped inside until the ice is destroyed, expires, or Iofur dismisses it. The ice behaves like a wall, blocking movement. If the ice is completely unhurt and runs it's natural duration, enemies released from it will be burned. Hibernate can be used to freeze towers, which is useful both offensively and defensively.

Blizzard Barrage

Damages enemies in a diamond shaped area, and coats the ground with ice which has no frictions for knockbacks. Hence, any knockback on ice will travel much further. The shape of the diamond changes based on how far or close the spell is cast from Iofur.

Rollout

Iofur curls up and rolls to the target location, damaging and knocking away any units along his path. Iofur will roll through trees or rocks, bounce off hard obstacles (like his block of ice), and picks up powerups along the way. The roll will travel much further along Blizzard Barrage's ice. He may cancel the roll earlier by issuing a move order. The damage is based on Iofur's armour. Rollout applies Shiver to enemy units that it hits.

Shiver

Attacking an enemy non-hero unit will steal a modest amount of attack rate from them for a short duration. Attacking an enemy hero will steal a a large amount of attack rate, but some will be returned with each attack Iofur makes. This affects towers.

Ultimate: Icicle Express

Forms a wall of icy spikes in a line, blocking movement, and dealing damage and applying chill to enemies as they appear. The icicles count as debris, and units knocked into them will take a huge amount of damage. The icicles will only extend as far as the spell is cast, allowing control over the length of the wall.

Notes:

  • A very fun hero, but also one who can easily overextend by rolling too far and being left without an escape.
  • Hibernate is effectively a 'sleep', making it one of the rare quasi-stuns in RoW. It had been slated for replacement for a long time.
  • Blizzard Barrage's ice path is great setup for many other knockback skills. Aquasoul's Rip Tide in particular can combo with it to 'hook' enemies in.
  • Shiver can be used defensively by attacking an enemy hero once, and then not attacking further: leaving them with abysmal attack rate.
  • Icicle Express is very powerful, but difficult for Iofur to leverage. He would like to use it from outside a fight, but then he has to roll in, and then he can't knock enemies into the icicles. If he uses it from within a fight, the line can't cut anybody off.
