Namek

Namek; Askefise

Frontline, Melee

Cursed by a demon, the being called Namek can only try to relieve his eternal pain by pouring its hellish heat unto others.

For economical players who know when to unleash their killer potential.

Innate: Plunder

Namek pays for all his abilities with life costs. He cannot cast if he doesn't have enough life remaining.

Upon attacking an enemy hero, Namek reduces their damage output by 15% for a short duration, gaining this as increased damage output for himself for that time. The bonus to himself stacks, so hitting all five enemy heroes would grant him +75% damage output.

Cinder

Costs 9% maxlife per activation. Ignites a ball of ash which travels slowly in the target direction. Namek may reactivate this ability up to two more times, each kindling a new fireball from the previous, which will travel faster and in a new direction of his choosing. All fireballs grant vision, deal damage, and will inflict a burn if a unit gets hit a second time.

Lava Lance

Costs 15% maxlife. Upon cast, displays no animation to enemy players, and remembers the position of Namek. After 1.5 seconds, a line of lava originates from the remembered point, and passes through and beyond Namek, damaging and inflicting enemies it hits with a burn. The further Namek travels, the further the line will travel, meaning the 'tell' for this ability is usually him walking forward (which he can fake out as much as he likes).

Igneous Aegis [Passive]

As bursts of heat leave Namek's body, his outer layers of lava flash-cool to an almost impenetrable rocky exterior.

After using Cinder or Lava Lance, Namek gains a large boost to armour and resistance for 2.5 seconds. At maximum level, this will be a 66.7% reduction from both physical and magical damage.

Ultimate: Furnace

Instantly sets Namek's current life to 15% of his maximum, and begins a channel which lasts for 2.5 seconds. Upon completion, Namek will gradually heal to about 60% of his maxlife, and during this time nearby enemy heroes will be Plundered and have their turn rate reduced.

Notes:

  • Namek is a character originally developed for DotA Outland, where he used life to cast his fiery abilities. He surfaced again in early versions of RoW, where his primary tactic was to use Heatwave (an aura which stopped burns from expiring; now Judiator's Aura of Inquisition) with simple AoE nukes to suicidally burn enemies to death.
  • The modern version of Namek centres around the interaction between Cinder and Aegis. Spacing his cinders carefully, he can achieve 7.5 seconds of very high damage reduction, and thanks to Cinder's instant cast he can trade favourably against any high damage nuke that he predicts.
  • Since the first Cinder moves slowly and has the potential to sire another, it is commonly used as a zoning tool on-lane.
  • Cinder can travel halfway across the map if spaced as much as possible, though doing so with any accuracy is difficult. Many players enjoyed playing Namek as a harassment/sniper, which was actually at odds with his intended theme of burning through the enemy before they can burn through him up-close.
  • Furnace will increase Namek's life to 15% if he's below that, so it can be used as a clutch heal without attempting to finish the channel.
  • His name has no relation to a certain fictitious planet.
